The Northwestern Community Youth Center is a safe place for teens in the Northwestern School District that promotes a positive lifestyle.  NCYC functions as a nonprofit drop-in center, but there are also groups who meet weekly.  NCYC is also home to the Reading Buddies Program and the Coach Lisek Summer Park Program.
Facility The Youth Center is located at 30 East State Street in Albion, PA, which is the historical Salisbury building. The Salisbury Building was once home to Salisbury's Hardware and then Tucker's Hardware.
Our Mission Our mission is to promote and provide programs and activities that encourage a positive lifestyle for the youth in the Northwestern Erie County Area and provide opportunities to interact with affirmative role models and mentors in a safe and well supervised environment. Community Working Together The Northwestern Community Youth Center is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit cooperative venture between the Northwestern School District, Northwestern Ministerium, the Albion Area Chamber of Commerce and the community at large.
The Youth Center is centrally located in Albion, within walking distance of both the Middle School and High School (approximately 1 mile).  We have two floors of space to use.  There is plenty of space to be utilized for a variety of activities. Lounge Area Equipped with 3 flat screen TV’s, couches, a place to hang out and play videogames. Computer Lab We provide computers with access to internet for students to play games and work on homework. Table Games Pool Table, Air Hockey, Foosball Half Court Gymnasium High ceiling with a basketball hoop with hardwood floors Café Area Area with tables and chairs to provide a space to eat and play cards, board games and to make art. We facilitate a variety of clubs and programs depending on the students’ interests. Reading Buddies is a twice a year program where students from Northwestern Elementary School come to the youth center.  Teenage students are paired up with elementary students assisting and encourage reading. The NCYC also organizes a two-week summer program for elementary aged students that is held at the Albion Borough Park.  Students rotate between planned activities with a variety of subjects.  Each day students are provided 2 free meals thanks to the IU5 Summer Foods Program.
